My First Interview!?

First Job Interview as Theater Usher.?

• I have an interview coming up in two days and it's going to be my first job interview. I'm 17, and being my first interview I have a lot of questions. The job is to be a ticket usher or concession stand seller for the theaters. I applied online the other day and got a call today. Well, here are my questions: What should I wear for the interview? So far I've decided to wear slacks, dress shoes, and a dress shirt. When do I need my resume? Is that required yet or do I need that later on in the job? How long do interviews usually last? When should I write a thank you letter? What IN YOUR OPINION was the hardest question you've ever been asked during an interview. Please, I don't want a whole essay, I'd like answers based on personal experience. :) Thank you~

  Well I was a theatre manager so let's do this! Yes, your outfit sounds great. Brush your hair, tuck your shirt in, wear a belt. Bring your resume with you and hand it to them when they come out to interview you. The interview is about 15 minutes usually. Write a thank you letter or call in to say thank you for the opportunity the next day. This keeps you in their mind and keeps you fresh and professional looking to them and they're more likely to give you a chance. I don't have a hardest question but be prepared to answer "what's your favourite movie?" because I had so many people giving me "Uuuuuuh" for about 5 minutes. Also be prepared with what you can improve on...don't say things like "I'm late for everything." or "I get distracted easily." even if these are your worst attributes they are not what you want to be saying in the interview, don't say "You're a workaholic" either, they want to see you have a good life balance and that means you won't run yourself into the ground. I always appreciated a kid that shook my hand because I won't lie a lot of kids your age don't anymore. Be the one to initiate this, as soon as they walk up to you "Hi my name is ______" and shake their hand. Doesn't matter if they already know your name take the initiative to be friendly. Good luck!
