Please help. I need help choosing a career path. Which one is better?
-
I have three choices, I know which one has the best salary, and I know which one has the best hours, but I want to know which one would be the best choice overall. Thanks, for even reading. Here are the jobs: - Pharmacist - Pediatrician - Nurse As you can see, I definitely want to go into health care, there's nothing else I could see myself doing. I chose pharmacist because It's fast and efficient and it earns good pay, the hours are good, and I think I have all the qualities to fit the job. But I'm not sure it's all that pleasant. I chose pediatrician because, I would really love to work with kids, something like a family doctor and it has the best pay. But, it's hours are insane and plus my sister's studying to become a pediatrician, and I kind of wanted to choose something that no one else in the family was doing, something that's perfect for me, not for someone else. And finally, I chose nurse because I think it has good hours, and good pay, I think I fit the job well. It's not exactly doctor, and that's what bothers me. I love the idea of being a nurse, but does it earn enough money? Is it the one for me? Thanks for reading :) And if you could, could you tell me all the salaries when you tell me which one is the best? Could you just put any information that would be helpful to make my decision, Thank you!

Answer:
Why don't you volunteer to work at a hospital and learn about each field by talking to people there? You might get an opportunity to work in each area and see for yourself what interests you the most..

None of these jobs have any good "hours". Even a pharmacist works in the evening (visit a local pharmacy). Nurse--who looks after the patients during the night? Pediatrician--you'll get a call from a parent asking what to do when her child has a fever at 3 a.m. Pharmacist, generally, would get a PharmD degree (a doctorate). Pediatrician--you know what your sister is going through. By the way, with all due respected, don't fall into the trap of being a girl and you have to be a Pediatrician or a OB/GYN. There are other types of doctor you can look into. Pediatric / Family Practice / Internal Medicine pays the least amount of money by the way (still a lot compared to general population). Nurse--you can be a registered nurse in two to four years, depending on the degree. Patients generally don't care if you have a BSN or an AA degree, as long as you are properly licensed and know what you're doing, you are a nurse.
