What is civil service nursing?

Is nursing a publice service job?

  • or do you have to go into a certain sector of nursing for public health? NO BS answers PLEASE!!

  • Answer:

Nursing can be either in the public sector (assuming you are in a country where there is a public health sector) or in the private sector. It's all nursing. What determines public or private sector is the nature of the nurse's employer. If you work as a nurse for a private organisation, it's private sector, if you work for the government, or for your state (in the US), or county, it's public sector work. However, there is also a sector of medicine called 'public health' (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_health) which is mainly concerned with disease prevention, etc. This is different from 'public sector' which just means 'government owned'.
