What is it like being a nurse?

I would like to go to school to become a nurse. I just dont know what kind of nurse. Can you help me?

  • I know my aunt is some kind of nurse that sits with the elderly and looks after them, and gives them there medication...ect. I think its call a CN nurse...Im not sure. I know I dont want to be a RN...Because the schooling is too long... I would like to be a nurse that does all the basics..and I would like to know if there is a nurse that doesnt required ALOT of schooling.. Im not saying I expect to go to school for only a few months...but would like the least amount possible. What are the types of nurse I ould maybe be...How much schooling does each require..and what kind of salary will i be looking at with each kind. Also...After you or someone you know that has became a nurse , finished their schooling...was it easy for them to get a job. Thanks.

  • Answer:

Enrolled Nurses do all the basic stuff, but the pay is never very good, and its exhausting. In many places, ENs are just glorified Orderlies, and don't do much more than empty pans and roll patients. I don't think ENs are permitted to draw blood or administer medications anymore. I don't know about the states, but in Australia, ENs train at Community Colleges called "TAFEs"

an RN is like 2 years of school but an LPN is less than that. The salary really depends on where you work but usually hospitals pay more. My friend is an LPN and makes around $16/hr. What about being a medical assistant?
