How can i be a RN in California?

Which states I can practice RN without retaking my RN license if I already have my RN license in California?

  • Answer:

All you have to do is apply for a license with whatever state's board of nursing you want to work it. Because NCLEX is the standard nursing test for the entire US, you don't have to retake the test. However, you will need that state's license to practice in it.

As far as what my professor told me, you can practice RN anywhere, you just have to send some documents and as the department of license or give you that state's license. You can call any hospital in the state you want to work at, and speak to one of the supervisors, or RN supervisors.

I'm from CA and living in NY. I heard CA has reciprocity in NY. But NY does NOT have that in CA. You just have to apply for state licensure and take a test. BUt it's no biggie. If you can pass the NCLEX, you're good.
