LTC Health care Administrators - Texas?
-
I graduate this year with a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration/Long Term Care. My plan is to become a LTC Administrator and I still have to do my internship but I was wondering if anyone can tell me what is on the NAB exam or what to study for. I'm super nervous and I want to make sure that I pass with flying colors

There are only 3 books you need to pass the NAB. 1. The NAB Study Guide - you'll see very similar versions of questions out of this book on the actual test. 2. Federal Regs (watermelon book) - you don't need to memorize every single reg but understanding how surveyors interpret those regs will come in handy on the test. 3. Townsend's "Principles of Health Care Administration" - it's almost like this book was written for the test. Personally, I think it's written much, much better than the Allen books and it is very comprehensive. It makes the perfect addition to the NAB study guide. Websites: NAB website: www.nabweb.org/nabweb/default.aspx Future Administrators Link: www.nabweb.org/NABWEB/common/examinati… Link to purchase study guides: www.nabweb.org/nabweb/common/storefron… To find your state board: www.nabweb.org/NABWEB/common/StateBoar… Links to professional organizations www.nabweb.org/NABWEB/common/links.asp… I ordered my study guide book from NAB for the national exam and that is all I studied. I got a 96% with an hour to spare. It has practice questions at the end of each domain and some of those questions were on the exam. When I went online to sign up for the exam, it gave me the option of ordering the book. in the NAB Study Guide (use the publications order form inserted in this handbook or order online at www.nabweb.org to obtain a copy). This online program provides you with a professional education in the field of long-term care administration - and one with an important distinction. While many other colleges and universities offer long-term care administration as a specialization or subset of another program such as business administration, health administration or gerontology, Saint Joseph's offers one of the few degrees in long-term care administration itself.

I think you should be well versed with the LTC industry. You should know how it really works and have a hands-on experience because all those classroom lectures are far different from the reality. Why dont you expose yourself in a LTC facility and then ask advice from well-trained managers/supervisors? Goodluck!
