What is a good reason for working in retail?

I lied on job application about working there before with good reason, will this cost me the job?

  • I lied on application about workng there before with good reason, will this cost me that job? I applied for a job at a facility that I worked at 23 years ago for 21/2 months. It was a terrible experience, they kept changing my schedule and I could not work as much as they wanted me to and the general conditions were awful. It was the height of the nursing shortage and things were very bad there. Now I have applied for a totally dfferent position there. The interview went really well, I thought that I would tell the interviewer at that time that I had worked there before but the way the interview went I did not get the chance. Then I shadowed an employee and that went quite well and it totally slipped my mind. I had a conversation with the supervisor and she told me that she wanted to hire me and was going to send the paperwork to HR. That night I woke up and remembered that I did not check off the box on the appl. that asked if I worked there before and did not explain it. Will that cost me the job?

  • Answer:

it might not make any difference after all this time, but it is better to come clean before they come asking you about it. That way, it looks like the honest mistake that it was instead of an attempt to deceive

No. You will be given the job in this organization. It is because of the fact that you have a good experience of the job and that will pay you back. Good Luck

It could, but don't panic. The way you described it above is simply what you would tell them if they ask you about it. There could be a chance however that after 23 years and only working there for 2 months - your file that said you worked there could be completely gone. THat's a long time to hang onto an employees file, especially for someone who was basically a temporary employee (only 2 months). So don't panic. If you are great for the job and they see that - you'll be fine. If they ask you about it, then you explain. If they don't ask you about it, then you have 2 choices - keep quiet, or tell them anyways. Good Luck!! :)

If they find out, the most they will do is ask you about it. It was so long ago that it probably won't matter.
