Pharmacy Tech. or Medical Assistant ?
-
I am looking into both of these careers. I know for sure I want to be in the medical field but I do not want to go through a lot of schooling. Anyone in these fields with their opinions are welcome to share. Any other good medical career suggestions are welcome as well. Looking for which one has the best advancement potential, pay, and stability.

Answer:
Pharmacy tech! Education: You only need a high school diploma and many drugstores will help you get a license and give you paid training. Advancement potential: You can become nationally certified and work in a hospital. . .those techs make the most money. Other than that, you can't advance unless you want to go to school to become a pharmacist. Pay: Excellent considering no college is required. You will start off low, but with experience comes raises! Stability: Excellent! The baby boomers are all retiring and need their meds!

Honestly, i wish someone would have told me not to waste my time on some bullshit *** Medical Assisting program. I was just like you, i wanted to fast track my career and skip all of the extra schooling so i chose the MA program at Remington College. BIG MISTAKE! The academic counselors there talk you up on how it's so great. But honestly, think about it? Look at all the uneducated people they allow into those kinds of schools. All they want is your money. The economy is so bad right now that most people aren't even considering MA's into their practices' .... Reason one, LVN/LPNs are much more qualified to perform our duties & so much more. Of course it will cost them in price but also cut in price instead of hiring two employees they can get it for the price of one. Also, depending on what area you live in and the demand of MA's in the area it really isn't that great. Where i live they start off at $9.00/hour. & if you want to climb any higher in the Health Care world this isn't the title you want. Honestly, if you want to work inside Health care you should really consider nursing of some sort. LPN/LVN or RN. I really wish i would have just sucked it up, and took my basics & got into a LVN school. It's worth it. Please don't make the same mistake i did. As far as Pharm. Techs, i have no idea. I have a friend going to school for that & she loves it.
