I am an Ultrasound Technician.

Ultrasound Technician?

  • I live in the central valley area of California and I have been looking into researching becoming an ultrasound technician. I'm not sure what school in this area offers it currently and what the specific name of the program would be. I attend a city college and they have a radiological technology program there but it is closed until 2017 so I'm wanting to find another school close by very soon where I can become an ultrasound technician. I'm also wondering how much they make per hour/year. It would be great if a student in this or a professional ultrasound tech can answer this and let me know what it takes to get there. Thank you so much ahead of time!

  • Answer:

Most programs are offered through technical/community colleges, and the program of study is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. On average, they make $63k/yr, but pay is probably higher in CA. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm Make sure you only consider accredited programs. http://www.caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/
