Well there are two types an RN (Registered Nurse meaning an Associates Degree) and a BSN (Bachelor's in Science Nursing) which is one step higher and becoming more and more required these days. Rn - You can go to any community college/junior college - you will have 1 year of prerequisites - classes like Psychology, Sociology, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Terminology and more then apply for the nursing program and once accepted into the nursing program you have 2 years before you graduate. BSN - Is what you get at a university and would really want to work towards are more and more place that hire are looking for higher education. It is 1 year of pre requisites such as above then 3 years in the program. A BSN does not necessarily pay more but it does allow you to do more procedures and move up faster within the place your working.
