Why did you chose nursing as a career?

Would nursing been a good switch?

  • I have worked at a Veterinary nurse for the past 2 years and have found it to be hard but rewarding work. However, I have found that I have a very big problem with my emotions during euthanizations. I have no problem with actual death, it's just that I cannot bring myself to restrain and animal while it is being put to sleep. So because of this I have been thinking of different career options. I originally chose veterinary nursing because I love medicine and helping the community. It seems like a good option would be to go back to school and try out human nursing. I know that is it a big switch and the schooling would be time consuming and demanding. I, however, would like to stay in a medical field, and I love helping people. Does this seem like a good plan?

  • Answer:

I think it is a great plan. If it's something that you think you would love to do and it's a decision that makes you happier, then go for it. Nursing is a great career and I think you'd be ready to go into the field. Your patients would be very different of course but it's something anyone can get used to with time. Good luck with your career choice! It's a great one!
