Is a cardiac sonographer a good career?

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer career information?

  • i am going to school for dental hygiene. i've heard that about half of dental hygienists only work part-time. i was wondering if i end up working part-time what other careers i could work part-time with that. can i work part-time as a sonographer? (obviously after getting my sonography certificate)... i think neurosonography is kinda interesting. thanks :)

  • Answer:

The medical world holds a wealth of different careers from the obvious nurse and doctor careers to adminstrative careers. My sister really wanted to work in this area, but she wasn't certain precisely what she really wanted to do. She uncovered the website in the resource box below, it has lots of instruction, and it helped her to settle what she really wanted to do. They have guidance with other jobs too.

You're right, with DH you would be lucky to get a part-time position, as the market is not very good for them right now. You can do Sonography on a part-time basis, either at a hospital, imaging center, or doctor's office. Also, many work PRN positions which is as-needed, although that may be more difficult for you with another job since it would be less predictable. Make sure you find an accredited Sono. program: http://caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/
