How to get a Pharmacy technician job with no previous retail or hospital experience?

  • What are the prerequisites to become a Pharmacy tecnician to work in California? I have studied physiology for a massotherapy degree, in the process i found out i dislike massaging strangers,( some people dont shower and it is disgusting where it occures ) but i have huges amounts of curiosity regarding Pharmacology, biochemistry and i would love to have a job where i am in contact with health sciences but not in direct contact with the humain body. Which courses do i have to have, to work in California in the pharmaceutic industries? I am a singer thus very sociable, i just dislike touching dirty people. Thank you so much!

About 25 to 50% of the people I saw in a retail pharmacy daily were on some sort of welfare program . . . or just plain homeless. Be prepared. It's not an easy job.

One thing to consider with pharmacy tech is that a lot of them are now working in mail refill centers where they never deal with patients at all.

It takes quite a lot of education to become a Pharmacy technician, usually at least 2 years if you become a certified tech.
