Where are BSN programs at?

Is there any entry level BSN programs with out having a prior degree or RN completed in california?

  • I've looked online and can only find West Coast University. I am interested in getting my BSN but i have no registered nursing license and don't necessarily want to apply to a cal state or UC. i was just wondering if there was any other schools like West Coast University in California. Any incite would be appreciated.

I would recommend avoiding for-profit schools like West Coast University. Usually they charge quite a bit of money without giving you a really good education. Some private, nonprofit schools in California offering BSN programs are the University of San Francisco, Samuel Merritt University, Mt. St. Mary's College, Holy Names University, and Dominican University of California.

Almost every state university in California has an entry level BSN program. This is a listing of the nursing programs in California. Choose only from those which are approved in the state. http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/programs.shtml The BON website is a wealth of info. As for West Coast University, never pick a college that looks like a strip mall or is a chain store type of school. The credits many not transfer. The school may close. The school may change names several times before you graduate. That easy to sign loan may haunt you for decades but without anything to show for it. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably it.

Why not the Cal States? they are the cheapest and best options for a BSN. Anything else (other than the private universities like Loyola Marymount, Mt St Mary's etc), will be for-profit schools--very expensive and poor records. The CA govt pages posts the NCLEX pass rate for all nursing schools in CA (I forgot the email address), but with some effort you should be able to find it and see all the nursing programs and how well they stack up on the one thing that matters: passing the NCLEX. (FYI, you mean "insight", LOL, "incite" means to stir something up-like incite a riot). EDIT_there you go, Jill did the leg work for you on the web site

Your best bet at finding nursing programs in your state is always looking into the state board of nursing's website. You will always find a list of accredited programs. I easily found CA's approved nursing programs with a quick search. Here is a link of all the approved programs, scroll down for the BSN programs. http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/rnprograms.shtml#bsn
