You have to love to see people in pain. (Althought im not a surgeon, i tend to know the personality traits of one). Surgeons love to see people in agony and pain, thats why they cut patients open. They love to see blood, which then proves my point of how surgeons love to see people in pain. Also you have to learn how to make people bleed alot, typically they'll give you tools to help accomplish that goal. Also you have to: find that the human life isn't that important. Becaus e if someone was to die at your hands, you'll have to just say o'well and move on to sippin on your coffee. hope this helps.

Becoming an ER surgeon (also known as a trauma surgeon or critical care surgeon) is a lengthy and challenging process, but well worth the time and effort that is required. This career requires a great deal of education both to become a surgeon and to maintain your license. The rewards for a career as a surgeon are just as extensive as the requirements to attain it. Step 1Earn your undergraduate degree. You will first need a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Although not specifically required, a degree in one of the sciences is highly recommended. Step 2Complete a four-year medical school program. After you have earned your bachelor's, you will need to attend a medical school program. Your program will need to be accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). Upon completion, you will have earned your doctor's of medicine degree (MD). Step 3Complete your residency program. Your residency should be in general surgery, which is a five-year program. Residency programs can be found through the National Resident Matching Program website (see Resources). Step 4Complete a fellowship program. There are two different fellowship programs that will enhance your education, a trauma fellowship and an acute care surgery fellowship. There are also some programs that offer these two fellowships in a combined two-year program. You can find a list of trauma and acute care surgery fellowship programs at the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma website (see Resources). Step 5Earn your license to practice medicine. Once all educational and training requirements have been met, you will need to complete a series of exams to become licensed to practice medicine in your state or locality. There is no board certification currently available for trauma surgery. It is recommended that candidates interested in trauma surgery seek board certification general surgery status through the American Board of Surgery (ABS).
First, go to college and major in something that interests you and if this isn't Biology or Chemistry, try to minor in Biology or Chemistry. A major will be about 10-12 1-semester long classes And a minor will be about 5-7 1-semester long classes Just to get into medical school: You have to take 2 1-semester long courses in Biology (a Biology minor would help) 4 1-semester long courses in Chemistry (a Chemistry minor would help) 2 1-semester long courses in Physics You have to get somewhere between a 31 (very good) and a 46 (amazing) on the MCAT to get into a decent medical school. Thats why you need to take all of those science classes. You earn the degree from medical school called MD (4 years) Then, you do a residency with a surgeon for about 4 years. Then, you are a surgeon. Getting a residency will be hard, you really have to be excellent for someone to want to do the residence with you.
