Best paying job in medical field?

  • What is the best paying job in the medical field that requires 8 or less years of training. If not that then the best paying job in the medical field that doesn't require much Schooling.

  • Answer:

Most importantly, what do you see yourself doing all day. Do you see yourself looking in people's mouths all day? Do you see yourself being in a job where you can see patients with general conditions (primary care physician)? Do you see yourself as being a specialist of some sort? Do you see yourself working in a hospital setting? Private practice? Medical group? Are you business oriented? For example, general dentistry usually is one dentist with his/her staff of dental hygentists and office support staff. Do you want the responsibility of leasing a building, paying staff, ensuring you can keep good dental hygentists....being able to compete with other dentists? There is a lot that goes along with general dentistry, other than salary. And of course there are a lot of other things to consider with various medical professions/fields......salary is the least of your worries~! You also want to factor in some medical professionals do have malpractice insurance (ie. those who deliver babies) which can get pretty steep............some states doctors have moved because of high rates. Most people in health care I have met never say they become a nurse, doctor, etc because they make the big bucks. Believe you me........they make every dime they earn. It is a very stressful and hard job. Let's not kid ourself, medical professionals have the lives of patients in their hands on a daily basis. It is not easy money....and they pay a lot into their careers (student loan debt).

It all depends on where you live. In the us, a general practictioner or family doctor average about $191,300 annually, while a dentist only averages $106,000. A dentist take 7 to 8 years of schooling, in the us you must have a bachelors degree before you can even enter into dental school. A gp take 6 years and then a 1 year residency. Now in each state, that average salary could be way more or way less. You can get on google and look up average salary of each profession in your state and how long it takes for schooling as well. I had to do this for a project in high school.
