How can I improve my sales pitch?

• I just got a new job which has me going door to door trying to get people to view Kerby demonstrations. Here's my sales pitch: "Hi, my name is Eli, I'm here with the Kerby shop. We just opened up a shop here and we are offering a free one room carpet cleaning and shampooing just to demonstrate our new product. Many of your neighbors are doing a living room or a bed room. You by no means have to buy our product, but would you like the free clean/shampooing?" So basically my job is to demonstrate the Kerby vacuum to people and try to sell it to them.

  speaking from a perspective of liking Kirby, but not liking sales tactics, I would introduce myself, and say you would like to offer a one room carpet cleaning to show how effective the new Kirby is compared to the standard cleaner they are using now. Don't go into the "I'm new to the business, help me out" or "help me reach my special quota" routine. another thing to think about is intend on being there a while. don't rush in with all your supplies and do quick little demonstrations. don't give the potential buyer the impression that this is a rush job and you have 20 other houses to hit up. I've also seen the more you make generalized statements about how horrible the rest of the vacuum market is, the more people will loose interest you and the Kirby you are trying to sell.
