Is a marketing degree worth it?

Marketing degree really a "common sense" degree?

  • I am currently caught between a marketing and economics degree. My goal career would be in areas of marketing research/analysis, PR, and financial advising. I understand both degrees offer chances at these type of careers and economics is obviously the more prestigious degree. However, from job searching I've learned companies actually would prefer marketing as a major. Some say that marketing is just a plain out common sense degree and a waste of time to do as a major. WHAT IS THE TRUTH?!

  • Answer:

The truth is that you can not decide base on jobs, what would you do for free and be happy? if you love marketing then do marketing, if you love economics do economics, however economics majors are more macro so your possibilities grow within industries. Marketing is normally focus on retail, branding, and research. Marketers are the only ones that write their check (comission based)
