What can happen when you get written up at work?

I forgot to get off work today.. ahhhh whats going to happen?

  • Im 18 and work at a womens clothing store as a sales associate/cashier. I was originally supposed to get off at 7:00pm like my schedule said but I forgot! (stupid me!!) so I ended up closing the store and got off at 7:30. Usually the managers tell us to clock out, but I guess she the assistant manager today forgot as well. Is that extra 30 mins going to count and has this happened to anyone? This will be he first and last time that this will happen..

    I wouldn't push for that extra 30 minutes of overtime, you can make those minutes up by taking a little longer for your break or lunch hour, over a period of several days. It will average out.

If you were working during that extra thirty minutes, you should be paid for that. Beyond that, what happens depends on the company or manager you work for. It's possible that since you were supposed to clock out earlier than you did you may be disciplined in some way. It's such a minor thing that I would expect a fair minded manager to just bring it to your attention and ask that you be more careful about clocking out at the right time.

Probably nothing will happen. You might get yelled at but you should be paid.
