What does a retail sales merchandiser do?

Have an interview for a retail merchandising job, the only experience I have is as Sales associate...?

• How can I explain that Sales Associate experience is a good start for a retail merchandiser. As a sales associate they sometimes had me stocking and restocking, they also had me working in a team to arrange the ends of the shelves, and make the store look nice. That's similar to what a merchandiser does right? How do i explain this properly to the interviewer? Thanks, I could really use a job right now so I could use all the help I can get

  They already know the connection. They want to know how well you did your job. Tell them that. Then tell them that you are excited about learning this new set of skills, which you you know is related, but has additional responsibilities. Let them see your enthusiasm for the job.
