IS HOTEL MANAGEMENT A GOOD CAREER?

• hay everybody....m well i am kyara.i am currently studing in 10th and i have chosen HM to be my career ahead.this is my final decision now.i have been thinking over it a lot but i have finally decided now. but i hear a lot of people saying stuff about HM like-"the initial salary wont be good at all,u will have to do hidious jobs,etc etc". even my family doesnt want me to opt for hotel management. but i have already made up my mind now and i am not gonna change it but i still just wanted experienced people to give their openion. so will it be a good career for me to choose? i am pretty much pampered all the time but i dont consider any job as inferior and i do wanna go for it.

Students who have successfully passed their 12th standard examination can pursue certificate, diploma or bachelors in hotel management. The duration of a certificate course can vary from six months to one year. Bachelor and diploma courses are usually one and half years to three years in duration. Students with a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university can opt for a post graduate diploma course the duration of which is one year. Admission is based on one’s performance in the written admission test, personal interview and group discussion. Admission to government recognized hotel management institutes is through a common entrance test. The entrance test will have questions that assess a student’s proficiency in English, logical reasoning, mathematics, general science and general knowledge. The entrance test is of two hours in duration. It is usually held around April. Candidates who succeed in the written test are then asked to appear for an interview and group discussion session. Private institutions conduct their own entrance tests.
