What does a marketing manager do?

What is a marketing manager? How much are they paid? What college must youu have to become one?

  • Answer:

As a marketing manager, it would be your job to plan the best ways of promoting your employer's product, service or message to as many people as possible. The more experience you have as a marketing manager the higher you can expect your salary to be. You can be expected to pay 35,000-40,000 in the first years earning as much as around 75,000 after you put in your time. Any college that offers a College of Business would be a good place to get started. Then you would probably wanna major in marketing and minor in management.

You typically need an MBA in marketing, then work your way up through the company ranks to get enough experience to be promoted to manager. There are marketing managers making as little as $50-60k, and some who earn $125k. Depends on your education & experience, plus how large the company is and above all, how profitable you make the company.

Don't forget statistics or any other math majors are always welcome in the field. Also, political science has a rather large marketing presence even without an MBA. A BA in poly sci is often sufficient.
