Whats a good anime to watch?

i have watched afro samurai and enjoyed both seasons and recently got into naruto, i am wondering if anyone knows any good animes, thats for an older mature audience that is, more along the lines of afro samurai and naruto season two, not really like one peice. i tried to watch that one but it was just a bunch of pirates and seemed liked it was for a younger audience. it does't have to be about ninjas or anything it just have to have a good stroy line and good character development
