Flashforward Premise?

Okay, so like most people I started off watching ABC's Flashforward at the beginning of the season and quickly lost focus with it. As it only lasted one season, did they ever find out anything? Were they able to change or undo what they saw or did they realize it was undoable? I can't find any solid information on the ending on the Internet so pleas be detailed. :)
