Need help overthinking Lost. Why was Locke carrying currency?

  • In the Season 4 episode "The Other Woman," Locke hands Ben a dollar he had in his pocket. After around 80 days on the island, what possible reason could John have for keeping money on his person?

    He probably had it on him during the flight. Why would he just throw it away? As far as 2 Locke's, that wasn't really him. That was the man in black who was talking to Jacob earlier on the beach. He took over his "body". John Locke is dead.
