What is the best English TV series you can recommend to me? Why?

There are quite a few. "The Prisoner"--one year, 19 episodes, and "I Claudius", one year, 12 episodes. I also recommend season one of "To the Manor Born" as the best comedy. Most of the rest is low-grade but serviceable humor and detective attempts; there's also the old "Adventures of Robin Hood" series which had a great cast and was clean, intelligent and good fun.
