What does a dream in a dream mean?
-
in the past year i started having dreams where it would feel like real life and they would go on day and night (in the dream) i would wake up in the dream and go through my day then fall asleep in the dream. so i would be having dreams inside dreams, then wake up into a dream. i had one that went on for what seemed like 10 days ( in my dream) and once i finally woke up into real life i was confused it feels like going on a vacation while im asleep. and my memory mixes with the dream memories so things that didn't actually happen seemed like they did because they happened in my dream. some nights im scared to go to sleep because im afraid i wont wake up for a week or two, even though it would really only be 6-8 hours in real life. it sounds dumb, but (from my own point of veiw) the movie inception portrayed how time expands in dreams within dreams very well. and knowing that I've experienced being in dreams for extended periods of time, it makes me wonder if i could actually get caught in a dream that last for weeks or months or even years. I'm just wondering how this dream within dream experience happens and if there's something that i can do to avoid having these?

Answer:
What Lisa said was good, maybe if you talk to a doctor to see if maybe you could get on some type of sleeping medication, just something to help you relax to where your mind isn't racing before you fall asleep. Are you under alot of stress or depressed? These are things that could affect your sleep and dreaming. I know when I am stressed I have some of the craziest dreams. So I take like 2 tsp of benadryl before I go to sleep when I am stressed and I don't have anymore crazy dreams. Hope this helps and would definitely recommend trying the benadryl before going to a doctor. Its alot cheaper and it works. lol

I think it's a sign that you think too much. Inception is fiction and you will not get lost in your dreams.

dream within a dream supposedly means a deferment of your highest hopes but a definite improvement from your current circumstances. I've had one go three of these dreams deep and that third level was scary, and weirdly that happened to be what seemed like a day, then wake to see a dream, an hour. I was so scared too because each time I woke up this scary phone call would wake me, then in real life I didn't know if I was awake or not, the phone rang, I went out of my mind! Did my circumstances improve? After time I saw they did. You can't stop dreaming of dreams within a dream. I think your just in for a major shift. You can't live by not sleeping. Maybe think of some happy things before you sleep and see if this helps.
