R4i freezing problems?

I recently bought an R4i Gold for my DSi and i am having some problems with it. More specificly, with two of my roms. With both ragnarok ds and glory of heracles, whenever i get to the title screen and hit new game, my ds goes to a black screen and gets stuck there, the music still plays but it never changes from that screen. Anyone know how i can fix this? my R4i details are: R4i Gold, V1.31 Kernel, 3G kingston micro Sd.
