How to Identify a refurbished DS Lite?

• Hello I live in the Philippines and here, we don't have a local Nintendo Support. There is a rampant selling of refurbished DS Lite being sold at the genuine price. I want to buy a system but I have to make sure that its genuine and not refurbished. Some say that for one to identify a refurbished DS lite is to check the type of screw used in the back of the cart slot. If its an ordinary phillips screw then it is most likely refurbished. Tri-wing then its original. is there some truth to this? What about batteries? what brand should they have if they are original? Thanks and I hope someone can help :(
