Fallout 3 PC problem?

I'm trying to run fallout 3 on py pc. its a toshiba but i dont know the system specs. i got it on christmas so it is new.i havent played the game yet. i downloaded it from gamestop's impulse driven site. whenever i try to start a new game, the loading wheel completes about a 1/2 turn, it crashes and an error message pops up saying "Fallout 3 has stopped working", i cant download any programs because of memory issues, please help!

Answer:
You need a very modern PC in order to play it, my guess would be not enough ram, or a lack of a good graphics card.
