What is wrong with my pc?

i have a 4 year old rig...and the specs are, intel core 2 duo @ 2.9 Ghz, 2 GB DDR2, Nvidia 9500 gt 1 Gb...i occasionally like playing on my pc, and it was all good, until a few days back...while playing dirt 3, the screen went black, and it made a sound "GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" like a machine gun and nothing could be done, ctrl+alt+del, nothing...it just had to be plugged off the power...it runs ok otherwise, absolutely fine...only when i try to play...with fifa, crysis 1, dirt 3...anything...is it the graphics card? i have a ps3 which is my main thing to play on, but would really like to know whats wrong with it...i've already tried re installing all the drivers...running win 7 ultimate

You don't have enough ram to play. Upgrading the graphics card might help
