Do a lot of people still play Gears of War (PC) Online?

By a lot, I mean can you load a match within reasonable time/are there at least 1,000 people online at a time? Gears of war 1 is the only pc gears of war game. So I'm hoping online play is still thriving as I consider buying it to help occupy me until black Friday when I can afford a xbox 360 s.

I doubt it. The PC version was pretty poorly received as a lazy port with an annoying requirement of using Games for Windows Live.
