Fallout 3 won't install on my PC?

How to install mods for fallout: new vegas?

  • I need to know how to install mods to fallout new vegas for pc. Can someone tell me the software I need and the process of how to install them please?

  • Answer:

1)Be sure your game is patched. 2)Then download your mods www.newvegasnexus.com is excellent site for it and you will get lots of instructions for each file and also list of required resources for them (for example the Script Extender or additional textures and models are required for some mods) you will need winrar for .rar files or 7zip for .7z files 3)Unpack it and then move it into correct folder. If it contains folder named "data" put it into "data", if there are "textures" "meshes" or "music" or whatever, put them into corresponding folder in the "data" folder there should be also a file named after the mod with "esp" or "esm" extension. They go straight into the "data" folder. 4) If you did everything right, open the launcher and there under the "data files" tick every one you want to use. (the game is sensitive about correct order of the files, so it's easier to use program such as Fallout Mod Manager which can help you manage them easily and even automatically correct wrong order of the files-this program can be found in newvegasnexus) 5)play it 6)profit! 7)If there is a problem, for example you see big red exclamation marks or ghastly shapes instead of modded files, you did something wrong. Exclamation mark means missing or misplaced model (mesh), ghastly shape or weird looking surface of item means missing texture.

You need WinRAR to unpack the mods and all your wits to install them. Mods usually come in a "data" or "texture" folder and need to be transferred to your New Vegas install folder, which also contains a "data" subfolder, wich in turn contains a "texture" subfolder. Simply let the mod's "data" folder overwrite the New Vegas data subfolder; only the "texture" folder and the files which are different will be overwritten/added and all the rest will stay intact... Sounds complicated, but it's not, I assure you... Just don't forget to make a back-up of your New Vegas "data" folder, in case there's mods that don't work properly or that you don't like, etc...
