Question about Sims 2 installation.

Trouble installing the Sims 3 Ambitions?

  • Ok, so, here's the story. I just ordered my second expansion pack The Sims 3 Ambitions sometime last week and it arrived yesterday. I popped the disk into my disk drive on my laptop right away and started installing it. I got to the part where the blue bar slowly makes it way across, transferring the files from the disk onto my computer. When it was about 70% done, this message popped up in a dialogue box, which paused the installation. It said: File: D:/GameData/Shared/Packages/FullBuild_p0… Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I have tried installing this same game multiple times, but this same exact message always popped up somewhere toward the end of the installation. I looked at which file the game was stuck on installing and, sure enough, it was this same file. What are some solutions to solving this problem and installing the game correctly? Has this or anything like this ever happened to you? If so, please tell me what you did to overcome this problem. Or just any ideas to try would also be greatly appreciated, also. Is there a way I can contact the game developers via Internet and actually tell them about my problem? I have tried looking on their The Sims 3 support websites, but I have not found any information that answers my question, or that even comes close to answering it. I am guessing that I somehow have to delete this file (I am assuming this from the information that it gives me in the dialogue box). But the file is on the game disk, so there is no way that I myself can delete it. I am so perplexed as to what to do! Please give me some feedback if you can. That would be excellent! Thanks much!

  • Answer:

I am having the same problem! I just bought a new computer this past black friday, so i know it's not my computer. I am just trying to redownload the games to this new PC. i looked on the Sims resource forums but everybody is posting the answer to someone's inbox, and the forum is now closed. Have you tried checking to make sure all the other games/expansion packs are up to date, including all patches? that may work.
