How does the PS2 microphone work?

My Guitar Hero microphone is not working any more?

  • I have been using a guitar hero microphone meant for the PS2 in my computer for about a year now. It has worked perfectly until just a couple days ago. When I was done using it then, I simply unplugged it like I usually do, and put it away. Now, it no longer works. It doesn't mute, so that's not the issue, I've tried it in both USB ports, both of which work with the mouse, so it's not that either. When I look on the computer, the computer and Skype both recognize that it is plugged in, and Skype even says "your microphone seems to be working fine". I really don't know why it just stopped working now. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
