Is there a blue diode in the PS2 (the older one?

Why won't my PS2 read the disc?

  • I recently bought an older PS2 game from game stop. It's a blue disc and i heard sometimes the older PS2's(the fat ones lol) have trouble reading them, but when i first bought my PS2 almost 6 years ago all i had were blue disc games and it read the discs and worked fine and even now when i play those games they work, all except for the recent one i purchased, it doesn't read the disc and that annoying DISC READ ERROR message shows up. Is their anyway i can fix this? Also, i have had other non-blue disc games that have this problem, but after a few tries of opening and closing the tray and inserting another disc that easily reads it normally works, why isn't it working in this case?

  • Answer:

Its the ps2 laser that reads the disk fault. Theres no real way to fix it, just the laser isn't that good. Normally this happens when the ps2 is getting faulty or dusty. I opened up my ps2 and cleaned the laser with a cue tip and that sometimes fixed the problem. Sorry cant really help on this one

If your ps2 is the slim one, it wont play some blue disc games. Including this one. Some blue disc games work like Tekken Tag
