How long will sony take to repair my ps3?

Can i use a YLOD PS3 to repair mine?

  • I have a 60GB(CECHA01) and had it for about 4years(it was the first one that came out) so im thinking that my hdmi cable was loose and cause my ps3 and tv hdmi to burn and what happen to my ps3 was when i turned it on with my remote the fan went on really loud so i walked towards the ps3 then the light went yellow and it shut off the light then went red(stand by mode) so i disconnected it and inspected the results of the burnt ps3,tv, and cable here are some pics TV http://i51.tinypic.com/1dzzc.jpg PS3 http://i56.tinypic.com/2d99ym0.jpg Cable http://i56.tinypic.com/ja8l0g.jpg now my ps3 turns on and the fan is a bit loud for about 5 seconds or less then its normal (No YLOD) i was able to take out my game so now i tried the regular AV cables but i get no video or sound so maybe i could use a ps3 that has a YLOD to fix my hdmi port or us my internal parts to fix a PS3 that has YLOD one last thing to add I contacted Sony and they will charge 129 to repair it but ive been looking for the warranty seal on my ps3 but cant find it and i read in other questions that you need the seal in order for sony to fix it thats why im leaning towards the DIY way

Oh Sh"t! your HDMI cable is faulty...but as long as the standard cable is working you could still use it..or u can replace the hdmi port of the ps3..would cost a lot of money though..

I Don't Think So

OK first off have you reset the settings? It is going to stay in HDMI mode until told otherwise, so simply plugging in the A/V cables WON'T get you a picture. You need to hold down the power, with the machine on(not standby) as you do it, until you hear three beeps. That will reset it to original settings. Then try with the A/V cables if that is what you want to try to use. As to the Sony Tamper Seal that would be INSIDE and you won't see it until you open it. It's not designed to accidentally be broken.
