How can I play my PS3 using a laptop as a monitor?

Connect my PS3 to my computer to play games?

  • So pretty much, I have a laptop connected to a second screen, and I want to bring my PS3 upstairs to my room and connect it to my computer, so I can play PS3 games on one screen and surf the internets on the other, or switch to using both screens for PC on a whim. I already know there are ways to connect your PS3 to your PC for file transferring, but what about actually using the PS3 on the PC? (also, my second monitor has a digital dvi input, but I'd like to have sound as well. Though I'd gladly play with no sound as a temporary substitute)

You have to connect it to your monitor not you PC tower. You can do this if your monitor has an HDMI port if it doesn't then you will have to get an HDMI-to-DIV or VGA cable attachment. When you talk about transferring files from your PC to PS3 that means using the media server connection. When your PS3 and PC are on go to the XMB of your PS3 and under music, photos and video there is a media server option click to find your Windows Media Player and transfer music, photos and video files to your PS3.

You cannot connect it to the computer but if you have an HDmI cable then you can connect it to the monitor I spent about 69.99 on mine if you want to use a double screen then you need two monitor sockets on your laptop.
