How do you sync a ps2 wireless controller to new receiver?

• I have pelican chameleon wireless controller (the one with the small receiver that does not have a channel selection) and I have misplaced the receiver and i was thinking I could buy a new controller (which will be a different controller but the same type or receiver) and sync it to the controller I have. I have heard of a button on the bottom of the receiver that you can press and then press X on the controller and they will sync. is this true? if not how else could I sync the controller and receiver. I know you are thinking "why don't you just use the new controller?" well I like the controller I have a lot, if you know this controller it fits your hand very well and it's hard to find this controller anymore.

  You can not use any receiver with any controller. Each controller and receiver are a unit. If you want to use the same controller, you will need to find the exact same receiver (from the same controller), or it will not work. You can not use a receiver from a different model controller. It is true, to sync the controller to the receiver, there is a button on the receiver (it may not be on the bottom, my Logitech receiver has its button on the side) that you will push and then press the X button on the controller to sync to the receiver.
