How do I safely update a PS3?

  • I live in India, where we have frequent power-cuts. I know if a PS3 gets interrupted during one of its updates, its hard-drive can get corrupted and it wont function anymore. Now I'm kinda scared to update it because of this. Could anyone please tell me how to safely update the ps3, so that even if a power-cut happens, nothing will happen? Is there any way? I posted a similar question like this earlier, but everyone told me that I should download the firmware update from my PC and transfer it onto my PS3. But even if I do that, I'll still have to initiate the update on the PS3 itself. So the problem really has not been solved.

    does the power go at a certain time? just borrow like a backup power thingy from one of your friends if they have one, just incase it does cut, you then have back up power.

Get someone with the updates or use a p.c to download the updates, transfer them on a flash drive. Put the f.d in your ps3 and then restart yo ps3. Will automatically update.

on the psn home page (when u first start up the ps3) go to the left until u see "system settings" go down 1-3 options until u see "system update"
