Is there anyway to update my hacked PSP?
-
I had my PSP hacked by a friend years ago (he thought it would be a good idea) It's a PSP-1001. System software 3.71 M33-3. I didn't have any internet when my PSP was hacked so there wasn't any noticeable difference that I could see, but then I bought some games that required me to update my PSP to a higher version than 3.71. Whenever I tried to update it, it never worked. I would be getting error messages that there was something wrong with the UMD and when I tried to update via the memory card it would say that it can't read it. I went out and got a new memory card (andseveralothergamesIwantedtoplay) but I kept getting the same sort of error. I tried updating another PSP(not hacked) with my memory card and it worked just fine. I've been trying to update my PSP for years, gosh. Recently I saw this as an answer on YahooAnswers to someone that had problems updating. "Enter the m33 recovery menu (take out battery, put it back in and turn on while holding down r button) configuration set use m33 update to enable. restart your psp and go to network update. if it pulls the correct update you will go to game to update. -josh c" I tried to do this, but when I go to configuration I don't see anything about M33 update. As I said before, I've been trying to update for years and I've finally decided to ask for some help. Any help or information would be wonderful. Thank you in advance! (also it would be lovely if you could explain it in layman's terms.pff)

Answer:
You have an antique! LOL Anyway, just go google search whatever the latest custom firmware for the PSP-1000 is, and follow the instructions for installing. You have a custom PSP to begin with, so it shouldn't be hard. I was a noob too and I did this, so it shouldn't be that hard. I just did a google search, and the latest seems to be 6.38 ME-2. There are plenty of tutorials, including YouTube, for the installation.

you have to restore and reformat the psp to sompletely wipe it first then download the latest psp update from playststion.com if it has any part of the cfw or any hacked or copied games on it then it will not update and if ypu ever try playing a copied game it will brick the psp and ban your psn account if you have one ignore update menus or recovery menus part of the hacked software , these all need to be deleted from the psp and any memory cards installed in it the last version should be 6.38 so that's the one to get
