How to extend ps3 life?

  • Recently (for about 2 weeks now), my PS3 has been making very loud noises and has been getting extremely hot. After playing for about 30 minutes, it'll rev up and become very loud. I'm a bit worried about it because I have several pre-orders on several games coming out this fall...and I don't want to have the added hassle of having to buy a new ps3. So essentially what I'm asking is: What are some ways to extend my ps3's shelf life? What are some neat little tricks that people use to keep the PS3 from overheating and what are some things I can do to prevent my ps3 from dieing. Also, if theres anything I can buy to help it out (like an external fan), tell me about it...and if its within budget, I'd consider buying it. Any help that you all at Yahoo Answers can give will help tremendously...THANKS!

    Make sure to keep the room warm or cool and dont block the ps3 from the back to give it some space to blow and suck air then it wont overheat and having a lot of users on ps3 may damage it because it takes up memory

Make sure it's well-ventilated, meaning there are several inches of space, at least 6 inches, on each side. Also be sure it's sitting on a flat, stable surface -- no carpet or anything like that. Also, it should be in a dry, dust-free, cool as possible spot. For an external cooling system, you can use a regular fan pointed at the PS3 if you have one, or you can get inexpensive external cooling systems online or some local stores may have them as well.

Keep it cool, well ventilated on all sides and clean it regularly, dont smoke by it either or cook around it.
