How you play PS2 games on the PS3?

How can I play ps2 games on my ps3?

  • I have a 250gb ps3 but it doesn't support the ps2 formatted disks... I'm very bummed about this because I have a ton of ps2 games but no ps2!! I received the ps3 as a gift and I didn't know there were different versions out there.. I just assumed since you could play ps1 games on the ps2 that you would be able to play ps 2 games on the ps3.. but sadly I found out that this wasn't true. I NEED to know how to fix this.. if I can.

    the ps3 which supports are 20gb, 40gb, 80gb they are backward compatible unfortunately the slim doesn't play , but they play ps1 games..

The closest thing to that is taping a PS2 on top of your PS3. Thats why you dont make assumptions.

unfornatley you cant play them but there is an alternative you can run them on PC via ps2 emlator here is the link to the emulator http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/ps2/ there were some ps3 which were compatible with ps2 games but they stopped making them

Unfortunately, Sony removed the Backwards Compatibility feature from all PS3 models after 2007 ! The only PS3 models that will play PS2 games are the 2006 20GB and 60GB launch models and later, an 80GB bundled model released in 2007 ! Since 2007, no PS3 model will play PS2 games !
