Can I connect my PS3 to this surround sound system?

Connect Surround Sound System to PS3 HELP!! =(?

Alright so I want to connect my PS3 to my surround sound system so I can play and watch movies with it. I hear about HDMI and stuff but its confusing and idk if I have the right system. My Sound system is a Pioneer SX-315, Ya its pretty damn old and idk if its possible, and also I know its cheap but hey we cant afford the good stuff. -__- anyways, is it possible to do so?? if so....how and what will I need? On the left hand side of the sound system, it looks like there is an optical port. Although I can't see if it's optical in or out. If it says "Optical IN" then you can connect it to the PS3 with an optical cable. If not I don't think there's any other option, other than buying a new receiver that you can just connect your current speakers to.
