My Wi-fi or ethernet cable won't work with my PS3?

I have a older 80gb model ps3 . internet connection is enabled.. I've also tried connecting all ways. Easy Method: Checking network configuration. Please Wait..... then stays like that. Custom method: I've tried wireless and wired connection. I scanned for networks and it fails giving me a long error code 801..... can not detect access point. I've tried wired connection.... tested the connection.... Obtain IP Address: Failed I know my internet works fine because i'm using the laptop right now wireless or wired.. and my other PS3 slim works fine with wired connect and wireless connection. Can someone please help me?
