    if the 80GB you have/buy has 4 USB ports, then yes. if the 80GB you have/buy has 2 USB ports, then no. there is NOTHING you can do to change this. there is no 180GB. I think you mean the 160GB. and it too will NOT play PS2 games, and again, you can't change that.

that first guy has no idea what he's talking about. the 80 gig can play PS2 games. but it depends on which 80 gig you get. brand new 80 gigs and 160 gigs do not. but the MGS4 80 does. if the PS3 you are looking at has 4 USB ports then it can play PS2 games. if it only has 2, then it cant. this stems from the new 80 and 160 gigs being upgraded versions of the 40 gig that was offered as a cheaper option to the 60 gig. and the 60 gig does support dual shock 3, it just wont have one packaged with it. i know, i have a 60 gig, and 2 dual shock 3 controllers.

no you can't on the 80 and 160gb model (there's no 180). there's the 60gb model, with it you can but it's very rare. It's available from EBgames.com and it costs 40$ more than a regular PS3 80gb. Though it's used when you buy it. The 60gb model do lack the support of the DualShock 3 controller (it uses the DS 2 controller) so there's going to be no vibration feedback on it.

No backward compatiablity. only 160 gb not 180. The emotion engine for the ps2 was too costly for sony so they took out it for the ps3.
