How to connect my Official PS3 Headset to PS3?

How do I connect my headset to my PS3 for Voice Chating? HELP!!!?

• I bought a Microsoft headset(with a mic included) and when I opened it,it had a disk with it.It says u have to install the software on the disk to connect the headset with the computer.Now, I wanna connect it to my PS3.How do I do it?? Do I install the disk.If so ,how?I tried putting in the disk but nothin happend?When I pluged in the headset,and when i turned it on,a light came on but I didnt know how to test if it was working.So can u also tell me how to check if my headset was connected to the PS3 cause I tried playin a video on my ps3 with the headset on but the sound came from the tv not from the headset.HELP.

  Since you didn't say what the disc says on it, I will assume the disc has the drivers needed in order for the headset to work on a PC. I will also assume it is a USB headset as well, since you didn't specify this either, and you are saying it has a disc with it. You can not load the software on the disc onto the PS3. This means the headset will either work or will not work. To find out if the headset will work, plug it in and go to your headset settings (XMB > Settings > Accessory Settings > Audio Device Settings). If you see the headset name, then the headset will work with the PS3. If you don't see the headset name, then it won't work with the PS3. If it does work, you can make it to send the sound through the headset or the TV. To go through the headset, change Output Device to the headset name. To go through the TV, change Output Device to System Default Device.
