Are Blu-Ray discs and the players region free?

Ps3 and bluray help needed?

• okay since the bluray drive of the ps3 is region free does that mean that i can play bluray discs from any region in my ps3? or can i only play blurays from my region? or i heard that movies companies are not region coding their discs, can those play and how do you know which ones are region coded?

  The PS3 is region coded for movies and region free for games. That means you can play games from any country but movies from only the country where you have bought your PS3. Additionally there are only three regions for Blu Ray as opposed to the multiple region codes of DVD. The region code for the movie can be found at the back of the disc cover represented by the numbers 1, 2 and 3. Hope this helps.
