Should i buy a new Ps3? Because what is the probability that the Ps4 will be able to play Ps3 games?

Actually the first ps3 could play ps2 games but the slim ps3 can not play ps2 games. The ps4 will not come out for atleast 2 years(2014+). So I thing you should buy another ps3.

Sony has no plans for a PS4. All those rumours that people are hearing/seeing are false. Sony would announce it themselves if they were making a PS4 and they definitely haven't done that at all. Those sites you see that there will be one are fake and probably just put it there so they get people on them. Don't listen to anyone that says it'll be out soon. At the very LEAST a PS4 won't come out until 2016-2020. If anything they will continue to improve the PS3, which I honestly think is the smartest thing to do. I love my PS3. No other system can even begin to compare. If they improved what it can already do and add some new features then I would be really satisfied and wouldn't bother with a next generation console at all. I wouldn't even have a thought about it because the PS3 would be even more badass that it would be completely pointless to waste my time and money on it. Sony HAD to take the PS3 backwards compatibility (BC) out. It was costing them way too much to make them and they would lose money on each PS3 model that was sold. The Slims are WAY better. Especially now. I bought my PS3 to play PS3 games and use it's features. If I want to play PS2 games I'll simply use my PS2. It isn't that big a deal and the PS2 plays PS2 games better anyway. The Slims were redesigned to be 33% (probably more with the newest Slim models) smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient (efficient as in you'll save on power bills because it doesn't use as much power as the Fats did.) The Slim is also faster, more durable, have way bigger HDDs and perform A LOT better than the Fat models. I would say it would be a good idea to get a new PS3. If your PS3 was one of those BC ones, then I would highly recommend getting it repaired for two reasons: 1. There's only so many of those models in the world, if you have one that works it will be considered a collectors item. 2. Resale value will be higher than other PS3 models due to the fact it has BC.
