How long will sony take to repair my ps3?

Ps3 is going to be sent to repair to a specialist?

  • my ps3 recently stopped reading the disc... i called sony and guess what? 150 cause my system is out of warranty.....this will be the second time my ps3 brakes down... my ps3 is one of the first ones that came out....i got "YLOD" the first time and i paid the 150 to repair it... well to get to the point, i told them that the latest firmware damaged my ps3 and they assumed it was the blue ray laser that died.....but im sure that they are right.... so i play it off saying it was the firmware because i read people using that excuse to get the fee waived... so the sony rep contacted a manager and the manager told me...she was going to send my ps3 to a specialist to determine what cause my ps3 to malfunction....well the first rep was asking me for a credit card to charge 150 for the repair and if the specialist finds out it was the firmware they will refund the money back but i told them i don t have money to even paid for it... the manager then told me she will send me a box to ship out my system and she did nt take down a credit card because of situation... so u guys think im in the right path to get the fee waive?????and u think the specialist can find the problem?

    so far lots of people have tried to tie firmware updates to ps3 failure and there hasn't been any proof . I think that it's going to be impossible to link the two and that you'll be charged . seriously , do you think a specialist employed by Sony will admit that it's caused by firmware even if he finds it did ? This would open the door to hundreds of people wanting a free repair and from a financial and business point of view it would mean suicide for the people responsible for firmware . : Don't expect a free repair because it's highly unlikely.

I have a buddy who is a Sony authorized repair tech, he does PS3's, cameras, what have you, and when my PS3 broke he did mine free for me, but told me that they are basically trained to make Sony more money. Even if it was a firmware problem with your unit, they will say something like "we can fix the firmware issue for you free of charge, but it has caused a problem with bla bla bla and that won't be covered under firmware malfunctions and even if we fix the firmware it wont work unless we also fix this...and that'll be $150." Or they do this also, they will just go ahead and fix everything they "say" is wrong and call you back and say "we fixed bla bla bla...and that'll be $150", and if you don't pay it, you don't get back your unit. Pirates I tell you. Best of luck to you with that though, I hope you get a specialist with a conscience of a fiber or moral decency. I just wouldn't hold my breath.
